Nursing Assistant for the Anesthesia Department
The Anesthesia Department has approximately 450 dedicated employees, and together we provide high-quality anesthesia, surgical, and intensive care. Our operations also include a pain center and a sterilization unit. At the central operating room in Gävle, we perform about 7,200 surgeries each year, including both planned and emergency procedures. We serve all surgical operations within Region Gävleborg and combine expertise with a systematic focus on quality and patient safety. Together, we create an efficient and outstanding surgical operation that we are proud of.
We are now looking for a nursing assistant who wants to be part of our team and contribute to high-quality care in one of Sweden's most modern surgical departments!
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a nursing assistant, you play an important role in making the whole process work. You will work on both the anesthesia and surgical sides with varying tasks and closely collaborate with our anesthesia and surgical nurses. Work in the operating room is a team effort where all professional categories together in their different roles meet the patient's needs.
Main Responsibilities
- Preparation work before and after surgery in collaboration with surgical and anesthesia nurses
- Assist with various tasks related to the patient during surgery.

QUALIFICATIONS
For this role, we see that you have good collaboration skills, are attentive and communicative. You are calm and accommodating in your approach and have the desire and interest to help others. You are proactive and have the ability to plan and prioritize your work effectively, even in pressured situations. Furthermore, we see that you are flexible and open to change, allowing you to quickly adapt based on the needs of the patient and the organization. You thrive in a fast-paced work environment and appreciate a setting that is both challenging and developmental.
For this role, you should be
- a trained nursing assistant.
It is an advantage if you have experience in emergency care as well as experience in surgical nursing.

Information about the title Nursing Assistant
As of July 1, 2023, the title nursing assistant will be a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within healthcare and social services.
You can apply for the certificate starting July 1, 2023. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in healthcare and social services, but with a different title than nursing assistant. In Region Gävleborg, this means that the title in your employment contract will be Care Assistant until your certificate is submitted.
